Journal of Hand Surgery
12-14-06 This title is a problem for those of you who use our custom PubMed link and click on the "online" icon. We do in fact have online access to the title, and that link tells you so. However, this is one where you will actually need to get to the online access via the library's web-based journal page. The reason is you need a password and that is only way I have to let you know the password.

OVID journals
9-07: we do have access for 3 users now.
11-22-06
question:
whenever I click on the link to "online" from PubMed, if the article is through OVID (like JPO) I get a reply that says "the fulltext article could not be found."I can access it by going to the online JPO through the library homepage, but it takes much longer to find the article.
reply:
I will work on that to see if it can be changed. Thanks for letting me know. I'm glad you know how to get to it from the web-based journals list though. We only have 1 user at a time, so be sure to log off in between.
11-06-06 We have access to various years of several titles via OVID. You can see the complete list if you are within the institution by going here:
http://gateway.ovid.com/ovidweb.cgi?T=JS&MODE=ovid&NEWS=N&D=yrovft&PAGE=browse&BROWSEOPT=browseJournals
We have one user at a time access, so please be sure to log out when you are done so the seat is released for another to use.
Here is the direct link to our newest title, Infants and Young Children:

Archives of Disease in Childhood
Nov. 20 -- I had different links earlier in Nov., but apparently they are not stable. This single link seems to work best. I will update the website soon.
Archives of Disease in Childhood now offers quite a bit of full text online. See all 3 versions plus the supplements via the links from their main page at http://adc.bmj.com/
The main journal, Archives of Diseases of Children, is available back to 1997
ADC Fetal and Neonatal Edition is also available to us online back to 1997
Various supplements go back to 2000
and the ADC Education and Practice version is accessible back to June, 2004.

Contemporary Pediatrics
Contemporary Pediatrics is free online from Jan., 1999. It offers useful tips to practitioners.
Evidence-Based Child Health: A Cochrane Review Journal
We now have at least temporary access to Evidence-Based Child Health: A Cochrane Review Journal and it should be active within the institution. It is very new, so has few issues, but the most recent issue includes articles on injection site pain, Vitamin A for measles, chronic cough and booster seat use.

Skeletal Radiology (and Pediatric Radiology, too)
11-6-06 We still have access to v.26, 1997 forward (and v.27, 1997 for Pediatric Radiology). However, no longer do we have the very early volumes.
4-6-05: We now have online access to Skeletal Radiology v.1, 1976 - v.3, 1978 and then also v.26, 1997 - . I am checking on what is needed to get the other years and why we no longer have access to 1996 online. mp

Full text links on PubMed
If you like to search MEDLINE on PubMed, use this link so that you will be able to see what we have in the hospital
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?holding=txudtslib
You can search that same link from home or anywhere in the world.
Here is a sample citation to show you what to expect. Go to the link above and type in
15599283
Then click to see the abstract version and you will see links for the TSRHC library journals, both shelved and online versions. Sometimes you can actually click through to the full text available at TSRHC. Other times you will need to return to the library's web-based journals page.
A similar link is available that shows TSRHC and UTSW titles. You will NOT be able to access UTSW journals, this is just so you can find out what they have. See the link at the TSRHC Medical Library website under databases - medical or contact the librarian.

New from the Hospital for Special Care, the HSS Journal, volume 1, number 1, Sept. 2005, is currently available free in full text online. While it does not specialize in pediatric care, it does deal with orthopedic conditions that may be relevant to our needs.

Sage Journals free through Oct. 31.
Until October 31, journals from Sage Publications are free online to institutions that subscribe to even one title in celebration of their 40th anniversary and their 1st anniversary of being online.
http://online.sagepub.com/
At their website you can search by topic or title. Topics include pediatrics, nursing, neuroscience, education, psychology, sociology, research methods, rehabilitation medicine, surgery, radiology and computer science among others. You can even see a list of the "most read" articles in particular journals. A good time to sample some titles.
We are able to access these titles due to our subscriptions to Journal of Transcultural Nursing and also Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair.
